Working with young people of today to develop leaders of tomorrow.

Inaugural TSF Guest Lecture

His Honour Judge Roger Chapple delivered a keynote speech on ‘Young people: Building a Culture of High Aspirations’ to a selected audience of over 50 people at the Tayo Situ Foundations’ inaugural Guest Lecture on Friday 10 October 2014. He spoke about his ordinary upbringing, route to becoming a lawyer and how he is using his role as the most senior judge in Southwark to support young people. The meeting was introduced to the story of a young man called ‘Alfie’ who Judge Chapple spared from a prison sentence and who went on to excel with some support from the Judge.

Also in attendance was His Worshipful, Cllr Sunil Chopra,  Mayor Southwark who shared his experiences of the challenges young people are experiencing and commended the Foundation for the work it does in the community.  TSF Chair, Johnson Situ, remarked “it was very refreshing to hear from Judge Chapple about what he does and in particular the role judges are playing to reform young people who have challenging lifestyles. I am certain his story has inspired many of the young people who were in attendance and happy that TSF’s activities are having this level of impact”.

The Foundation thanks Southwark Council for hosting and supporting the lecture.

We now look forward to hosting another lecture in the New Year.
