Working with young people of today to develop leaders of tomorrow.

Reflecting on RAN 2013

As we take a break this year from our annual Recognition Award Night (RAN), it is worth looking back at what a wonderful event last year’s turned out to be.

RAN 2013 took place on Friday 17 May 2013 and was well attended by over 150 people, many of whom were below the age of twenty seven years. The evening started with an informal networking period where young people had the opportunity to interact with each other and representatives of community groups.

Johnson Situ gave a welcome speech which highlighted the work of TSF and its impact within our community. During the night, we had a great choral performance from the award winning David Idowu Choir, followed by an energetic performance from the up and coming Peckham based Xellerate Dance Group.

Cllr Peter John, Leader of the Council gave the keynote speech reminding us why it is important to support young people and the work the Council is doing to inspire a new generation of young people. Also of note on the night was a speech by previous winner, James Mitchell, who shared with the attendees what it meant to him being recognised by TSF and how that has provided further springboard for his progress.

All in all it was a brilliant night with much exuberance from all who graced the occasion. Our young people deserved much recognition for the positive impact they make and should be celebrated at every opportunity.
We express huge thanks to our patrons who attended, to those who spoke, performed and tens of young people who attended on the night.
